BjFj-96: the secrets of Bonsecours
This new exhibition reveals the stories – and mysteries! – uncovered during archaeological digs carried out over the past 30 years on the site of the Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours Chapel in Old Montreal. This fascinating archaeological adventure is brought to life through the rich and playful illustrations of Romain Blais.

The exhibition unveils the emotional moment when archaeologists discovered a wall from Marguerite Bourgeoys’ first chapel, built in 1675 and concealed beneath the chapel is still standing here today. It also highlights the exciting discoveries made at this iconic Montreal site, revealing unexpected fragments of life ranging from the presence of Indigenous groups to neighbourhood life in the 19th and 20th centuries. The challenges of preserving and showcasing these precious remains are also explored.
An investigative trail guided by Fripon the cat will spark the curiosity of visitors of all ages.
