Maison Nivard-De Saint-Dizier, museum and archeological site
The location of the famous village of Hochelaga has been a subject of debate for over 150 years. Recent archaeological research has confirmed certain hypotheses on this topic and will be presented in this lecture. It also sheds light on new approaches to the decolonization of archaeology and Indigenous reconciliation in the Montreal region, a contested territory.

The artist and Wendat knowledge keeper Mélanie Savard will lead a workshop on making medicine wheels and discuss their importance in Native culture. The event will take place at the beach library on July 17, 2026, starting at 11 a.m. For ages 10 and up. Limited seats available.

The traditional music group Garçons à marier will present their show "La Dot" at the Maison Nivard–De Saint–Dizier on July 19. A not to be missed festive traditional music show, suitable for all ages, starting at 3 p.m.

Luc Saucier will be giving a demonstration of the art of calligraphy in the public square on the pedestrian Wellington Street. Join us on July 26 for this event open to everyone, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

DÉMONSTRATION DE TECHNIQUES D'HORTICULTURE PALÉOHISTORIQUES AVEC MARTIN LOMINY
Archaeologist Martin Lominy will be at the Maison Nivard-De Saint-Dizier to give a demonstration on paleohistorical horticulture. He will explain indigenous techniques with enthusiasm and exceptional expertise.

A singer-songwriter and virtuoso guitarist from the Atikamekw First Nation of Manawan, Ivan Boivin-Flamand will present his new show, "Nitehi", in the public square on pedestrianized Wellington Street.
