Program

An annual gathering le last Sunday in May

During the museums day, the museums offer free access to their permanent and temporary exhibits and run special activities for the whole family. Participants can schedule their day according to their own tastes and availability. At the information and transit hub — known as the carrefour — or at the museums, hundreds of free activities take place from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

In 2010, the Museums Day had the theme of glass.

Some activities are continuing on this theme until the end of the year:

- Exhibition of a collective creation using the eyeglass frames donated at Musée d'art Contemporain (until August 29, 2010).
-Old eyeglass collection in the 16 participating locations (May 5 to August 29)
- Photography contest using the theme of glass (for ages 10 to 15)

Every year, the program is available in those locations:

- In the participating museums

- In most of the CLSC's of Montréal

- 91 cultural and service locations in Montréal

  • 44 municipal libraries
  • 22 cultural dissemination sites of Montréal (maisons de la culture + centres de loisirs)
  • 25 points of service (13 bureaux d’arrondissement + 12 bureaux Accès Montréal)

- At the 2 tourist information desks of Montréal (174 Notre-Dame + 1255 Peel St.)
