Message from the Executive Director

On behalf of the Board of Montréal Museum Directors (BMMD), I am pleased to welcome you to our  website. Founded in 1987, the BMMD currently represents 34 museums. Among our best-known initiatives — all of which you can learn more about here — I would like to draw your particular attention to Montréal Museums Day, the Montréal Museums Pass and our brand-new publication, Montréal Museums Magazine. Also, within a few months you’ll be able to download to your personal communications device podcasts about a number of walking routes we have created to link our member museums. The podcasts will also contain information about our members and various attractions that you’re sure to enjoy during your cultural explorations.

All of these initiatives seek to introduce the greatest possible number of people to the richness of our museum institutions and the diversity of their mandates. In fact, the BMMD was created in response to a strong desire expressed for collaboration between museums.

Whether it’s creating unifying projects, organizing professional gatherings or launching promotions targeting various clientele groups, the BMMD’s main concern is its wish to share with you the vast storehouse of knowledge that fills our city’s museums.
